Influenza
Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a respiratory virus that infects the nose, throat, and lungs. It is typically spread through tiny droplets that are released when people cough, sneeze or talk. The flu virus can also live on surfaces and is spread when someone touches the surface and then touches their own eyes, nose, or mouth.
COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Clinics

Bring your Bearcat ID and insurance card. Most insurance plans will cover the cost of a flu and COVID-19 vaccine or booster dose. Additionally, local pharmacies in grocery and drug stores offer flu vaccines.
Flu Symptoms
The flu can cause mild to severe sickness. It is different from a cold but can have similar symptoms. One key difference is that the flu often comes on suddenly. Common symptoms are:
- Fever or feverish chills
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Muscle or body aches
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Some people may experience vomiting and diarrhea
Older individuals, young children and those with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of developing health complications from the flu.
